C4K Visits Edwards Elementary With the Foundation for OKCPS and the Lemon Family
One of the best parts of working at C4K is seeing the smile light up a child's face when they receive the equipment they need to play the sport they love. Whether the athletes visit our Locker Room or we meet them at their school or practices space, we love to chat with the kids and hear about their favorite sport and school subject.
C4K was honored to partner with The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools and The Lemon Family to give out 590 pairs of socks to 295 students at Edwards Elementary School in Oklahoma City. Socks are an important part of a safe and comfortable sports uniform because of the protection and warmth they offer! In a district where a lot of kids are unable to afford multiple pairs at a time, C4K was honored to provide.
The mood in the gym was joyous as the kids filed in. After presentations by the principal Ms. Richelle Dodoo-Taylor, Mary Melón from The Foundation for OKCPS, Mr. and Mrs. Lemon, and Superintendent Dr. Sean McDaniel, each child received a brand new coat courtesy of The Foundation's Coat-A-Kid Program and two pairs of brand new socks from C4K.
One moment in particular stood out in Dr. McDaniel's speech. At one point he asked the gathered group to, "Take 10 seconds and look at all the adults in this room... why do you think we're all here? Here's why - because we care about you."
It was inspirational to connect with so many people who care about the students in OKCPS and beyond. Another huge thank you to the Lemon Family for their generous support of our young Oklahomans!
