C4K Awarded $10,000 iFund Grant from the Oklahoma City Community Foundation
C4K is pleased to announce that it has received a $10,000 grant from the Oklahoma City Community Foundation and its Opportunities for Children iFund grant program. The grant will be used to assist in funding the organization’s Ready to Run initiative, which will allow C4K to get more shoes on the feet of elementary school students in Oklahoma City.
C4K’s Ready to Run program began in 2015 and focuses on purchasing new running shoes for low-income students in elementary schools across the city. These shoes help increase participation in P.E. and recess. Teachers also have reported that having more active students has resulted in fewer disciplinary problems in the classroom. The funds awarded to C4K will assist in purchasing 500 pairs of shoes for children.
“It is such an honor to receive this grant from the Oklahoma City Community Foundation,” said Stacy McDaniel, C4K’s Executive Director. “These funds will help us get shoes on the feet of so many more young athletes and we believe that a child’s life can be changed by just that!"
Founded in 1969, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation works with donors to create charitable funds that will benefit our community both now and in the future. The Opportunities for Children iFund grant represents a compilation of gifts made by donors who want to support grants to provide access to mainstream opportunities in spite of physical, mental or economic circumstances for children from birth to age 14.
